Capricorn Ignited Limpopo (CIL) is a Lesbian Led Non-Profit Organization established in 2017. CIL was conceptualised through the feminist lens to advocate for women's rights in Limpopo province. The concept looks close to the understanding and the belief in full social, economic and political equality for women. CIL focuses on provincial needs and integrates the LGBTIQ community with the general society. We operate within the boundaries of Capricorn District Municipality of Limpopo Province and with the vision to further expand our services and knowledge to other districts in the province which are Mopani, Vhembe, Waterberg and Sekhukhune. CIL was founded on 11 March 2017 with the clear intention of building strategic partnerships and movements that use training and dialogues as a key platform for critical engagement and mobilization, capacity development, reframing of perceptions, and advocacy interventions across Limpopo at the provincial level.
The Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, provides that everyone in the country is entitled to human dignity, equality and freedom. Section 9 of the Republic of South Africa, 1996.
The provision is one of the most important sections in the Bill of Rights of the Constitution, it states that:
“Everyone is equal before the law and has the right to equal protection and benefit of the law.” Equality includes the full and equal enjoyment of all the rights and freedoms entrenched in the Bill of Rights. This means it is UNLAWFUL to Discriminate, Harass, Intimidate or Attack LGBTIQ persons because of their sexual orientation or gender identity".

We operated only within the boundaries of Capricorn District Municipality of Limpopo Province, and expanded to establish representation in all districts of the Province through establishment of independent branch organizations to capacitate local members within their own communities.
We are in the process of establishing representatives in all Local Municipalities of Capricorn District, in order to ensure accessibility to LGBTIQ support in rural communities.

The ongoing District Ignited branches forms part of an overall Limpopo LGBTIQ Collective that will oversee the organizations in the province, and is currently facilitated by the main Capricorn Ignited LGBTI branch. We are in the process of establishing Associates by deploying IGNITE BUDDIES in other districts to implement programs:

To see a movement organizing where all LGBTIQ individuals feel safe from hate and discrimination.
To create awareness and a platform for LGBTIQ persons to have a sense of belonging, through establishment of projects that are inclusive of all humans.
1. To create a space where all CIL members, Staff and Board of directors are capacitated with LGBTIQ politics and strategies to contribute to the growth of the organization.
2. To create a space for our community members to self-determination and self-identity through their bodily autonomy, through well-ness programs
3. Create a unique leading brand in the province to be associated with
4. To establish business and skills projects that integrate humans without focusing on their physical or sexual preferences.
5. To lead in playing an active role in offering solutions to the challenges, pleasures and needs faced by the LGBTIQ community
6. To network, provide training and create coalitions with organizations or government institutions that uphold and respond to the security, economic and social needs of LGBTIQ communities.
